The past years, there appears to be a lot of pessimism about the Philippines. From issues of economic turmoil, destabilization, fake news, scamming, corrupt government officials to extra-judicial killings and the like have been tarnishing the Philippines and the Filipinos overall image, hurting the country’s tourism sector.

And as a citizen, I feel that we should use our reach to lift up our nation by promoting the things that we love and we are proud of. It is time to get an optimistic sound out there and give an impulse to tourism in the Philippines. Despite the DOT changing (AGAIN) our tourism slogan, unveiling a very controversial new one last month, I hope that we Filipinos continue showing the world what the Philippines can offer.

Our country is known for having rich heritage and culture with so much biodiversity and natural wonders as our main tourist attraction drawers. Popular destination like Boracay, Palawan, and Siargao have been landing on the pages of well-known travel publications here and there. Despite the huge potential, the Philippines has lagged in the tourism industry behind some of our Southeast Asian neighbors like Thailand and Singapore, (and recently, Vietnam) due to political, social and economic problems.
The primary reason I opted to backpack around the Philippines first before exploring other countries is for me to learn more about my own land and show my love for MY country. Having been to 76 of 81 provinces, I could proudly say that our homeland has indeed a lot to offer.

So when I started traveling to other countries, whenever I meet a foreigner who would ask about my country, I have loads of stories to share. Also,
whenever I go on a foreign travel, I would have my favorite Philippine photographs printed in a mini postcard form. I would Usually give it as a token of appreciation to the people I meet during my travels. And yes, it is also my way of showing these people that the Philippines is worthy of a visit.
Here are some photos that I hope would entice you to feel excited to experience, and explore The Philippines.
