Before October drew to a close, I found myself craving a change of scenery and a quiet afternoon away from the usual routine. Right around my neighborhood, a brand-new spot had just thrown open its doors a day prior: Cafe Flouri Bread and Table. Naturally, curiosity took over, and I decided to drop by to see what this fresh addition to the local cafe scene had to offer.

Stepping inside, the first thing that caught my attention wasn’t just the aroma of coffee—it was the nostalgic pull of the bakeshop’s offerings. The bread and caakes instantly evoked the memory, both in look and taste, of Le Vain, the beloved Korean-owned bakeshop here in Baguio that sadly closed its doors earlier this year. Finding that familiar comfort in a new space was an unexpectedly delightful surprise.

I decided to sample a few items off their menu. I ordered the kimchi rice, which was decent enough to satisfy hunger, though I couldn’t help feeling it leaned a bit on the pricey side for what it was. My vanilla latte, truth be told, was a bit “meh”—serviceable, but not something I’d rush back for. However, redemption arrived in the form of their garlic cream cheese baguette. Rich, savory, and perfectly textured, it was easily the culinary highlight of the visit. Next time, I’ve got my eye set on trying their pasta served in a bread bowl, which sounds like absolute comfort food for the cooler Baguio weather.

Beyond the food, Cafe Flouri shines in its ambiance and hospitality. I completely fell in love with their alfresco dining area—it’s breezy, relaxed, and wonderful for people-watching. Little details often make or break a cafe experience, and they nailed the small touches: the service water station was well-maintained, and the comfort room was impressively clean and fragrant. Even better, I deeply respect that they honestly honor and grant the PWD discount, a practice that sadly isn’t a given in every establishment around town.
As a certified plant enthusiast, I was in absolute heaven wandering around their space. They have so many lush, thriving potted plants tucked into various corners, and walking past them felt a bit like home since several are remarkably similar to the ones I care for in my own indoor jungle. Adding to the charm is a quirky, indoor strawberry “farm” concept that gives the interiors a uniquely local agricultural twist.

If you are someone who likes to bring your laptop along, you’ll be glad to know that there is a good number of power sockets available should you plan to hunker down and work inside their indoor space.
While prices in general definitely lean toward the pricier side, the overall experience—from the plant-filled atmosphere and thoughtful amenities to that irresistible garlic cream cheese baguette—makes it a neighborhood spot worth revisiting. If you find yourself looking for a fresh nook to read, work, or simply enjoy a quiet afternoon surrounded by greenery, Cafe Flouri Bread and Table is well worth a spot on your cafe-hopping radar.
