There is a specific kind of magic that happens when the robust, earthy scent of freshly roasted coffee beans tangles with the creamy, delicate aroma of melting soy wax. On the morning of Friday, April 10, 2026, that magic took over El Union in Baguio for the 4th Story Candle Making Workshop.

If we had to describe the vibe in one word? Electric.
A Milestone Morning in the Summer Capital
This wasn’t just another workshop; it was a landmark moment for Story Candles’ growing community. We welcomed 16 wonderful participants, making this the largest session to date. Against the backdrop of Baguio’s cool morning air and El Union’s aesthetic, the room quickly filled with the hum of chatter and the clinking of glass jars.
What made this session truly special, however, wasn’t just the number of people—it was the incredible diversity of the crowd.

From Gen Alpha to Golden Years
We often say that creativity knows no age, but Friday’s workshop was the ultimate proof. We were thrilled to host our four youngest enthusiasts—a group of 10 to 12-year-olds who approached their scent profiles with the focus of professional chemists.

At the same time, we were honored by the presence of our elderly attendees, whose steady hands and thoughtful approach brought a beautiful sense of “slow living” to the table. Some of our favorite moments involved:
Mother-Daughter Tandems: Watching moms and daughters debate over whether “Lavender” or “Warm Cotton” reigned supreme was a joy.
The First Pour: That collective breath-holding moment when participants poured their first jar of molten wax.

Scent Experimentation: Seeing bold participants mix unexpected notes to create something entirely unique.
Crafting More Than Just Candles
At its core, Story Candle Making isn’t just about the finished product (though the candles turned out stunning!). It’s about the process. It’s about taking a Friday morning to disconnect from the digital noise and reconnect with your senses.
Seeing the creative chemistry between strangers—sharing hot plates, passing around scent oils, and offering compliments on scent combinations—reminded us why we started these workshops in the first place. Your energy is the spark that keeps our creative flame burning bright.

Didn’t Make It? The Flame is Still Lit!
If you couldn’t join us this time around, don’t feel left out in the cold. We are already scout-mapping locations and prepping new scent oils for our next session. We are more inspired than ever to keep this momentum going and provide a space where Baguio’s creative community can flourish.
Stay Tuned:
We’ll be announcing our upcoming workshop schedules very soon. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or someone who has never even lit a wick, there’s a seat (and a jar of wax) waiting for you.
To our 16 participants: Thank you for making our 4th workshop a morning we’ll never forget. Until next time, keep glowing!
