If you’ve ever walked the bustling stretch of Session Road in Baguio City, you might have noticed the iconic Patria de Baguio building. But tucked away within its historic walls is a hidden gem that, for me, captures the essence of Baguio nostalgia and a bit of European charm: Guest Haven Coffee
While Baguio is now filled with countless trendy, modern cafes, Guest Haven’s small branch along Session Road stands out precisely because it embraces simplicity and a sense of quiet intimacy. It’s not the biggest, nor the loudest—and that’s exactly why I love it.
The Charm of a Tiny Corner
This particular branch, nestled in the Patria de Baguio Building, feels instantly different. It’s small, almost purposefully cozy, and has a straightforward, no-fuss menu. This simplicity is part of its magic. You don’t get lost in pages of complex, over-the-top offerings; instead, you find classic comforts executed perfectly.

But what truly elevates the experience is its location. It’s just a stone’s throw away from the majestic Baguio Cathedral, granting it an enviable, slightly elevated perch. The cafe features a small, functional balcony that offers a spectacular, unencumbered view down Session Road. Sitting there, watching the ebb and flow of Baguio life below, the cool mountain air on your face, I can’t help but feel transported. It instantly brings to mind those little, tucked-away cafes I’ve enjoyed in Europe—where the charm is in the size and the view.

Simple Drinks, Magical Moments
Admittedly, the menu is basic. You won’t find avant-garde coffee creations here. But there is a certain, almost magical quality to their straightforward drinks.

My personal must-try is the Matcha Lava drink—a vibrant, creamy, and satisfying treat that provides a perfect counterpoint to the chill of the Baguio weather. For something hot, the hot Green Tea Jasmine Tea is the ideal companion, fragrant and deeply soothing.
And what are these perfect drinks paired with? Their delicious, warm, and wonderfully soft Chocolate Brioche. This pastry is the epitome of comfort food. It’s flaky yet substantial, rich with chocolate, and served slightly warmed, making it the perfect hand-held delight to enjoy while you gaze out at the city. The combination of the hot jasmine tea and the warm brioche is, quite simply, bliss.

Why the Small Branch Wins
Guest Haven COFFEE does have another branch, conveniently located in the nearby Porta Vaga Mall. While the mall branch is bigger, newer, and offers more seating, I still infinitely prefer coming to this little Session Road spot.
It all comes down to the atmosphere. The mall branch is efficient and modern, but it lacks the soul of the original. This tiny, slightly older cafe branch evokes a different feeling entirely. It feels like Old Baguio—a time of simpler pleasures, fewer crowds, and that genuine, laid-back mountain rhythm. Every visit here is a chance to reminisce, to soak in the history of the city, and to enjoy a quiet moment away from the commercial frenzy.
