Lake Como: A “La Vida Dolce” Kind of Jaunt ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Lake Como golden hour

Como, Lombardia, Italia — I was in Milan when a good friend suggested that we go on a day trip to Como to see the pretty and serene Lake Como.

Spring time by the Lake Como

Lake Como is one of the most beautiful lakes in all of Italy. The views go beyond the beauty of the lake as the surroundings are equally beautiful. To both local and foreign visitors, Lake Como is a mecca for respite and relaxation. The postcard worthy sceneries and the undeniable Italia charm make a perfect escape from any big cities nearby. Definitely worth visiting when in Italy.

With its close proximity to Milan, a day trip to Como is very much possible. Moreso that transportation is fast and readily available.

Some quick, interesting facts about Lake Como: it is the deepest freshwater lake in Italy and has a distinctive Y shape, looking likethe stem of a catapult. The lake is surrounded by a number of resort villages that provide one with classy hotels and vista.

Another must visit in Como is the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta – Duomo di Como. It is the reputably last Gothic cathedral built in Italy. The cathedral owers over the city with its imposing faรงade and large dome.

As for food recommendations, the most famous dish – polenta, is a must try. This is a dish made of yellow wheat or buckwheat that is served with meat, fish or cheese.

Inorder to reach Como City and the western side of Lake Como, the nearest airport is the Milan Malpensa. From Malpensa Airport you can get the Malpensa Express train to Saronno and then take a train from Saronno to Como Nord Lago. Journey time: about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

  1. We were in Italy last summer, but unfortunately didnโ€™t have enough time to go to Milan or Lake Como. Weโ€™ll have to add this to the list for next time. Your pictures are beautiful.
