Salagdoong Beach (Siquijor, Philippines)

I have always loved the beach. The smell of the salty water, the wind in my face, the gentle roar of the waves all combine to create a sense of peace and calm.

Salogdoong Beach is perhaps one of the most well-known beaches in the island province of Siquijor. It is located at the tip of Salagdoong Forest located in the town of Maria.

The area is not frequented by vehicles so one has to rent a motorcycle to explore this hidden treasure. Guests are assured to enjoy their stay at this resort as it offers some package tours and other aquatic activities that will make their stay valuable. Although the resort may not be the best place to stay if you wish a quiet accommodation because of the “public” vibe since this is a local government property. However, I have to say that their beach front plus their crystal clear aquamarine water is one of the best in the island.

Upon arriving at the beach, I was astonished as to how clear the water is. The shoreline may not be lined with very fine white sand (it is a bit rocky actually), however, that didn’t really matter, because beyond those rocks, you will have this wide, pool like emerald-to-aquamarine swimming space with fine-white sand below. Looking at it, it was as if the rocks were on purposely washed to the shore to form this natural pool.

A large rock boulder-slash-viewing deck divides the beaches at Salagdoong wherein a concrete footbridge leading to the top of this boulder was made. Atop this boulder, one would be more astounded as to how lovely the waters of Siquijor are. Really awe-inspiring water as far as the eye can see. Moreover, there are cliff diving ledges available for adrenaline junkies who would like to jumo off into the waters – the highest of which is around 20 feet. The water below it is just perfectl!
